Tile Calculator
Work out how many tiles a floor or wall needs, add a waste allowance, convert the answer into boxes, and see the actual layout drawn to scale — including which tiles get cut at the edges.

Materials summary
| Item | Metric | Imperial | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Area to cover | 12.00 m² | 129.2 sq ft | Includes the grout joints, which sit inside the same surface. |
| Tiles to buy | 77 tiles | 77 tiles | Fitted tiles plus 10% waste. |
| Covered by those tiles | 14.07 m² | 151.4 sq ft | Tile plus its grout joint, so this is the surface each bought tile accounts for. |
| Boxes | 20 | 20 | 4 tiles per box; 3 spare tiles. |
| Grout | 2.6 kg | 5.6 lb | Joints are 1.5% of the surface at 9.0 mm deep (density 1.6 g/cm³). |
| Adhesive | 48.0 kg | 105.8 lb | At 4.0 kg/m² — a large-format tile on an uneven floor needs more. |
Cut counts come from the geometry of the layout: every tile whose outline crosses a section edge is counted as cut. Keep the offcuts — in a running-bond or herringbone lay the two halves of a cut tile usually both get used.
Scaled tile layouts
One plan per section, drawn from the real lattice so you can see where the cuts land before you start.
Amber tiles are cut at an edge, violet-outlined pale tiles are used whole. Grout lines are omitted from the drawing because at scale they are thinner than a hairline.
About this tool
It lays a real tile lattice over each section — straight, half-offset, herringbone or turned 45° — clips every tile to the section outline and counts whole and cut tiles, then adds your waste percentage and rounds up to boxes. Grout is estimated from the joint width, tile thickness and the fraction of the surface the joints occupy. Metric and imperial both work (1 ft = 0.3048 m, 1 in = 0.0254 m).
