Keyboard Layout & Key Tester
A full-size keyboard drawn from real event.code positions. Press any key to light it up, test how many keys your keyboard can hold at once, measure its auto-repeat rate, and check what layout your OS actually reports.

Click the pad or just start typing — keys are captured from anywhere on the page via event.code. While the pad has focus, Space, the arrows and Tab are intercepted so the page does not scroll or jump; press Esc to release the pad and give the Tab key back. ISO mode approximates the tall Enter and the extra key beside the left Shift.
Event detail
No key pressed yet — press a key and its full event data appears here.
Rollover test
Maximum reached: 0
Press and hold several keys at once to measure rollover.
Key repeat rate
Hold one key down for about a second without releasing. Intervals are only counted once the key has been held longer than 600 ms, so the OS repeat-delay does not skew the rate.
Typing latency
Type a few keys (no holding) to measure the gaps between keystrokes.

About this tool
This tool draws a full-size keyboard from the physical event.code of every key you press, so it highlights the key you actually hit regardless of the layout your OS is set to, and it measures rollover, auto-repeat rate, and inter-keystroke timing live. Everything runs entirely in your browser: no keystrokes, timings or text are transmitted anywhere, and nothing is stored. Only the “Layout map” card needs the Chromium-only navigator.keyboard.getLayoutMap() API — in Firefox and Safari that card explains the limitation while the rest of the tester keeps working.
