About this tool

Each word is split into a fixation prefix and a remainder; the prefix is either a fixed number of characters (1–5) or a percentage of the word, never the whole word, so the eye still has to travel. Output is genuinely marked-up HTML with <strong> or <b> plus an optional letter-spacing wrapper, and the Markdown export uses ** emphasis. Letter-spacing, minimum word length and the emphasis colour are all yours to tune, and everything runs locally in your browser.
